THE PLANNING PHASE – Part 1

When a homeowner decides to build the pool that has been a long time dream, or incorporate into a new build, a mix of emotions typically occurs, including anticipation, perhaps a bit of nervousness, but most of all, excitement. In order to harness all of that energy into a supply of ideas and creativity, our first steps are to have an initial conversation with our client and visit the proposed site.
During the site visit, we are able to study a variety of items around the property, including the proposed space for the pool, the home’s architecture, and the homeowners’ personal tastes. A number of questions are asked, based on observations from the site visit, such as: How do the homeowners plan to use the pool? What styles, shapes, and water features do they like? How many children will enjoy the space? What safety features would they like to incorporate into the design? And most importantly, what is the budget?
At this point we will also discuss materials for the pool such as tile options, decking, and the surrounding landscaping. We will ask about any desired architectural elements, such as outdoor rooms, kitchens, custom fireplaces, and dining areas. Will they want landscaping installed? How about lightscaping in and around the pool?
The luxury pool design talk will also cover the control system responsible for managing the entire pool environment. There are many options for homeowners seeking to easily maintain and run their pools. With a simple touch on their smartphone, they can schedule the system, turn on the spa and more. They can also adjust water temperature and activate water features like waterfalls, fountains, fire features, jets, and lighting.
After grasping the desired outcome, Downunda’s team will assess technical aspects, zoning, and grading issues for the space. We then draw up a master plan based on what the homeowner envisions.
